40th Anniversary Celebration of the last Moon Walk
Digital Design is proud to have been a part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the last moon walk. Our team designed and fabricated a full sized Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) for permanent display at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola Florida. Built in honor of Eugene Cernan the last man to walk the lunar surface. Captain Cernan was on of the few astronauts to come from the Navy and is on the board of the museum.
We are providing free of charge our references and design information for the spacecraft which you can full download here. Built as a replica of the Challenger from the Apollo 17 mission the design is easily converted to replicate the Eagle from Apollo 11 or any other Apollo mission. The design was made in Solid Works but has been converted into PDF and JPG formats for easier viewing. Digital Design offers the Lunar Module and command modules as a 'turnkey" displays or in a kit form for finishing by your local artisans. Full size and reduced scale versions are available as are partial cut away displays with interiors and flight simulators. Contact our office for additional information.
Today, giant scale has developed into a whole new sector of the RC modeling community and truly gigantic planes are being developed to fill this growing special interest group. Recently, a ½-scale Pfalz D.III WW 1 German fighter successfully flew its first test flight and impressed everyone who was there. The plane is a custom built model built from an Arizona Model Aircrafters Short kit that includes many prefabricated parts. Jaime Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ is the owner/operator of the company and he developed the ½-scale project starting with a set of Tom Polapink drawings, and incorporated many traditional modeling materials with lightweight Experimental Ultralight Aircraft materials and construction techniques to produce a plane thats both scale, and that conforms to the new Academy of Model Aeronautics super giant scale RC aircraft guidelines. MANUFACTURING PROCESS
A state of the art computer operated manufacturing process allows us to produce our own airplane model parts that help keep costs down and quality high.
With specialized scanning and graphics equipment, we are able to significantly reduce the time and labor typically associated with producing custom airplane replicas.
Our model kits are designed by a variety of different designers. Each airplane model kit is unique in its layout and in the included accessories that are a reflection of the original designer.
BUILDER PREFERENCE ITEMS NOT INCLUDED IN KITS
What we DO NOT include are builder preference items. These are typically individual construction materials, which include cable or wire for the rigging, screws, nuts and bolts, covering, and other construction materials easily obtainable from your local hobby shop or supplier. The reason we do not add these to your model kit is that everyone has different building skills and uses for the finished model. For example, a sport scale builder will build and detail their model airplane different than someone building a rc model aircraft for competition.
